In your chosen editing software, look for a color 'Hue' effect
in your effects panel. Some software may vary in names for color tools.
All you need to do is change the Hue to change the color.

Banding is often caused by the lack of color available to recreate a seamless gradient. It's most common in 8-bit videos, usually caused by compressed video formats such as MP4. To maintain a small file size suitable for web use, videos need to be compressed. MP4 has a great balance between compression and quality.

8-bit videos will display 16.7 million colors, while 10-bit will display about 1.07 billion, which is a lot more! Unfortunately to maintain a web-ready video, most renders need to be in 8-bit and compressed (not in all cases, but most). Read more about bit depth here.

Our visuals are provided in uncompressed Quicktime Prores which is broadcast ready and does not cause banding. If you run into banding issues when rendering to a compressed format, we have solutions:

Add Noise

Adding noise will break up the gradient banding on a minimal level which is hardly noticeable. Depending on how much you compress your final render, you may need to add more noise.

Most editing software have a noise effect. Usually adding somewhere between 1-3% noise works wonders.

Add FILm Grain

Film Grain will do the same thing as noise, but in a particular style which is better favoured for a stylistic look of your film. Read more about Film Grain here.

You may need to purchase a Film Grain pack from somewhere, or you can use in-built Film Grain effects in software such as DaVinci Resolve.
